Easter

We had a fairly laid back Easter weekend here in Seattle.  I played soccer for the first time since February due to a severly sprained ankle I suffered while playing Frisbee Golf back in January.  Yes, I thought I had broken my leg while playing Firsbee Golf.  Probably the least physical sports out there next to bocce ball and crocket.  I was harassed for months.

Anyway, it was nice to get out there and play and everyone said that I hadn't lost a step which is nice to hear.  Saturday was a VERY nice day which started off with Olivia and I going out to breakfast at the local diner.  Drew and Wendy went to the store to buy birthday presents for a couple of birthday parties the kids were attending later in the morning.  I took Olivia to one of her friends' birthday party and Wendy took Drew to another party.  I swear there is a birthday invite every other weekend.  I'm really not a fan of kids parties.  Oh well, I guess it's party of parenthood or something.

Wendy and I had a special dinner treat later that night where we were invited to attend a dinner party down town with a bunch of our friends.  Two of our good soccer friends had bid on and won a dinner party with 50 of their friends hosted by a restaurant and served by 6 of the Seattle Sounders' players!  It was so much fun even though I was less excited about seeing the Sounders and more excited about going out for a free dinner with Wendy without the kids!  We actually hired a babysitter!!!  She is a daughter of one of Wendy's co-workers and she did well with the kids.  We will DEFINITELY be using her again!  To top of such a fun and exciting day, the weather was fantastic!

Sunday was pretty laid back.  I put Easter baskets next to the kids' doors and was able to wake up early enough to watch Drew open his door and trip over the basket.  It was fun watching him realize there was good stuff in there!  Wendy had packed his basked with toy cars so he was super excited to pick them all up and climb up in our bed with them.  He then proceded to drive them over Wendy as she started to wake up.  I found this quite amusing.

I pulled out my Gourmet Cooking for Dummies and made a delicious curry seed rub for a leg of lamb (minus the bone).  I learned all about beef stock reduction.  It was delicious, but Olivia wasn't feeling well and went to bed early.  It turns out that she really wasn't feeling well because she threw up all over the floor in her room later that night.  Fun.  All in all a good Easter.
